About Us

Founded in 1911 by Lucien L. Nunn, Telluride Association’s mission is to prepare and inspire promising students to lead and serve through free, transformative educational experiences rooted in critical thinking and democratic community.

Our programs are orchestrated by a volunteer board of directors, or members of Telluride Association, with the help of our staff and academic partners. Members are typically themselves alumni of our programs, and we consider board membership itself to be an educational opportunity with the same goals and principles of those we organize for high school and university students.

For our programs, Telluride Association seeks out young people with the desire and demonstrated potential to contribute to society, and helps them develop the skills, knowledge, and strength of character necessary to serve the world in their own way.

Telluride Association members are driven by our conviction in the value of our programs. We partner with universities and other educational organizations to advance our common goals. We are not affiliated with any particular political or religious viewpoint and do not engage in political or religious advocacy.
